For her 57th birthday Jennifer Lopez didn’t throw a party. She took over Paris 🥂 And who she flew there with is more touching than any cake

Most people mark a birthday with a dinner and a candle. Jennifer Lopez marked hers by taking over Paris.

She turns 57 on July 24, 2026, born back in 1969 in the Bronx. But she didn’t wait for the date. The celebrating started weeks early, timed to Paris Haute Couture Week, when the whole city turns into a runway and Jennifer, of all people, was never going to sit that out.

On July 8 she pulled a small circle of people into a Paris restaurant called Siena. No stadium, no stage, no thousand-person guest list. Just a table, low light, and the kind of laughter that only comes out when the cameras aren’t the point.

Then the cake arrived, and even the waiters slowed down to look.

It was a towering chantilly cake, piled with fresh berries and finished with meringue torched right at the table, the top still faintly glowing. Someone started singing. Then everyone did. “Happy birthday, dear Jennifer,” the little room sang, slightly off-key the way real birthday songs always are, and for a second the pop star with the JLO empire behind her was just a woman in a warm room being sung to by people who love her.

But here’s the part that turns a nice birthday into a story worth telling.

For her 57th birthday Jennifer Lopez didn't throw a party. She took over Paris 🥂 And who she flew there with is more touching than any cake

She didn’t fly to Europe alone, and she didn’t fly with a boyfriend. She flew with her sister.

Lynda Lopez, born in 1971, turned 55 just a few weeks before, on June 14. Two sisters, two birthdays a month apart, one trip to Paris. They started calling it their double-birthday sister trip, and once you know that, the whole thing reads differently. This wasn’t a celebrity throwing money at a party. This was two women who grew up in the same small apartment deciding to give each other a week they’d remember for the rest of their lives.

They’ve done this their whole lives, really. Long before the world knew the name Jennifer Lopez, there were three Lopez girls in the Bronx sharing a bedroom, sharing clothes, sharing dreams that seemed impossibly big for where they were sitting. Lynda went on to build her own career in media. Jennifer built, well, everything else. But the thread between them never frayed.

So while the fashion world buzzed and the couture houses put on their shows, the sisters did Paris on their own terms. The dinners. The walking. The inside jokes that go back forty years and need no explanation.

There was business folded into the joy too, because with Jennifer there always is. Her JLO Beauty line dropped a limited-edition “bling mirror” around the celebrations, the kind of shiny, wink-at-yourself little object that fits her whole brand: take care of yourself, look at yourself kindly, and don’t apologize for the sparkle.

Still, ask anyone who was near her that week what stood out, and it wasn’t the mirror or the meringue or the couture.

It was the sister at her side. It was the way the two of them leaned into each other in photos, the way one would say something under her breath and the other would crack up before the sentence even landed.

Fifty-seven years old. A career most people can only dream of. And the person she chose to spend her birthday with was the girl who used to sleep in the next bed over.

Maybe that’s the real headline. Not that Jennifer Lopez took over Paris. But who she took over Paris with.
